There’s an app for that

As the world of apps continues to grow, the vast number of options can quickly become overwhelming. Whether you are trying to calculate ratios for mixing chemicals, monitor field conditions or simply checking the weather, there is an app for that. The vast number of apps available for agriculture allows for many options, but with so many options how do you know which app is right for you?

Check out some of our favorite agriculture apps from SpraySmarter.com ’s manufacturers that are handy in the field.

The app allows farmers and agronomists to map field boundaries, mark flags, take geo-reference photos and enter pest scouting information.

Additionally, Trimble recently announced a new feature for Connected Farm. The app now has the ability to automatically calculate recommended nitrogen rates for crop readings taken by Trimble’s handheld GreenSeeker. This app is available on the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.

SprayIT

Brought to you by Hypro, the SprayIT mobile app assists with spray tip selection. To use the app, enter your tip spacing, speed, application rate, solution density and droplet size requirements. The SprayIT app is a free app that is available for both Apple and Android devices.

This past fall two spraying apps, developed by Agricultural Research Service scientists in Texas, were developed to assist with spraying insecticides. The Aerial Sprays app assists the users by providing information on proper nozzle and setting adjustments. It helps users select the right size nozzle opening, spray pressure, nozzle orientation and airspeed.

The other app, Vector Sprays, uses the same concept for the ground-based sprayer. It was designed for spraying mosquitoes through a public-health project.
