What Is a Spray Pump?

A spray pump is the mechanical part of the sprayer system that allows for the transfer of liquid between the storage sprayer tank, the hose, and the nozzle. Spray pumps have varying operating capacities and pressure capabilities that allow them to efficiently apply liquid chemical products like herbicides and pesticides throughout a field or yard.

Determining Pump Capacity and Performance

If the pump description does not already list the pump capacity and performance statistics, you can determine pumping drive yourself. In order to do this, there are several tests that you can find online. Consider not only the pumping drive and pressure volume, but sprayer settings information like application rate, flow rate, average ground speed, and agitation requirements. Furthermore, consider external factors like horsepower.
