Speaker 1: In Machinery Minute an Illinois company called TeeJet Technologies is now offering a guidance system called the Matrix. Not only does it show guidance data but also live video. Farm Journal’s Margy Fischer has the details.
Margy Fischer: With its new Matrix technology TeeJet is introducing a new view in precision Ag guidance. Joining me to explain more is Rich Gould. Rich, tell me about the Matrix.
Rich Gould: The Matrix guidance console is a new guidance product that we’re introducing here this year. It’s a GPS based guidance system that does 3D perspective view guidance, but its really unique feature is it also does video input so that it can show a video image, a real time video image on the display, but the even more unique aspect of this is that we can show our guidance information superimposed over the top of the video picture.

One application of this is that the operator can mount the camera on the roof of his machine, his tractor or whatever other machine he’s using the product in, and then he’s getting guidance overlaid on top of a view out the windshield, the same thing he’s seeing. It lets him look on the guidance console and see the same thing that he sees when he looks out the windshield. That helps him use the guidance information in a more natural way.

Another way of using this capability is to mount the camera somewhere else on the machine and then you can view some part of the machine that’s not normally visible while seeing the guidance information on top of that at the same time. You’re able to see a lot of information simultaneously.
Margy Fischer: And that could have applications across planting season or application season. How many video inputs can the Matrix accept?
Rich Gould: The Matrix 570G, which is a 5.7 inch display can accept four camera inputs at the same time, the operator can select between them. The Matrix 840, which is the larger brother of the 570 can accept up to eight cameras and on that one you can view four cameras at a time so you can get composite view on your display.
