Admit it; you’re anxiously trying to find things to do in the shop as the winter seems be in its longest stretch. Well, we thought we would share some common maintenance tips that can help you stay busy and get ahead of your spray-season shopping list in the process.

  1.   Inspect your hoses…     never repair, always replace
  2.   Grease the entire machine… yes, this means all of the grease points
  3.   Clean nozzles and check for wear and tear… you can use an air compressor to clean out the gunk
  4.   Fill all product tanks with water, flush the system through normal boom operation and check for leaks…  Obviously, you will want to wait until it’s above freezing consistently before performing
  5.   While operating the wet system, test your nozzle flow rates… replace any nozzles accordingly
  6.   Check the wiring on all your precision components and test powering them up
  7.   Once your precision components are on, check calibrations for boom, meter and speed
  8.   Check and inflate your tires to manufacture’s specifications
  9.   Check lighting and replace any bulbs accordingly
  10.   Replace damaged or missing decals and safety signs… especially the slow moving vehicle signs, safety first!

Of course, in any instance, whether a self-propelled sprayer, pull type or other, you’ll want to follow the daily, monthly and annual maintenance schedule for optimal sprayer performance. However, springtime can, and often does, become a very short time window, so these tips may not just keep you busy, they may also help you get started when you need to.

Enjoy and here’s to a great spring,
